Adoption, Purpose, and Applicability

**Governing jurisdiction: Duluth.** A "Duluth, GA" mailing address is usually NOT in the City of Duluth. Unincorporated Gwinnett is 67.3% of the county's land area and is governed by a different code, a different board and a different permit portal. Resolve the governing jurisdiction before answering any zoning question.

## Text

Article 1 provides for the adoption of the Unified Development Code, sets out its purpose and intent, describes the
lands and development to which the Code applies, shelters approved permits from changes in the regulations, and
provides for the continuation of pre-existing uses, structures, lots and signs that are not in conformity with the
provisions of this Code.
